First impressions are critical. They’re crucial in the real world and also determines press, pledges, and shares for your Kickstarter and Indiegogo project. This is why you need the ultimate campaign page for people to see what your project is all about and become backers!

Unfortunately, a lot of people getting started underestimate the importance of their crowdfunding page design. Since a website’s navigation and layout can have a drastic impact on sales, the same can be said with a Kickstarter and Indiegogo page. The way you lay out your content and illustrate key points can make or break your campaign.
Even the best product on earth will not get backed, let alone shared if your page doesn’t look good. There’s no way that you’ll see any crowdfunding success if you don’t take the time to create a beautiful campaign page. It’s one of the first things people will see for your project and how they subconsciously determine your competency.
And really, successful crowdfunding projects have great graphics – it’s something we see over and over again. Graphics bring your project to life and help create an informative and interesting campaign page.
Crowdfunding page design must-haves
As a creator, you need to keep in mind that there is no perfect formula for a successful crowdfunding campaign page. However, as the years have gone on, crowdfunding pages have now developed a list of “must-haves”. At a minimum, make sure you have:
- Video cover photo. This doubles as a preview image for your campaign on Kickstarter. The image needs to show off the product.
- Headers for different sections. This breaks up the flow of the page into digestible parts.
- Calls to action and buttons asking people to back the project or share.
- Animated GIFs that show how the product works.
- A list of rewards/perks to show what backers get by contributing.
- Specs/features/benefits displayed in a way that makes sense for the project.
- Timeline of the project, from the idea to prototype to launch to manufacturing and shipping.
- Images of the work you’ve done to get to where you are. Include images of the prototype of your project or early sketches. This allows the Trust & Safety team on Indiegogo and Kickstarter to validate that you’re a real project.
- Campaign updates, such as images of any stretch goals or add-ons
That’s what is now considered “normal” to have for a crowdfunding project. Beyond the list above, it’s truly up to you to bring your creativity to the table.

Three steps for success with your campaign page design
Now that you know exactly how to use Canva to create graphics for our page, it’s time to go over some basics.
1. Do the Market Research
Keep in mind that a crowdfunding page design is about what your audience needs to see to convert into a backer. The content is specific for every audience niche so make sure that you do the research beforehand. From your research, you’ll notice that there are plenty of examples out there for similar products. You can take notes on what types of images, videos, GIFs, or graphics they put on their page.
2. One visual for each section
There’s really no set number for how many graphics you should aim to include on your campaign page. As a rule of thumb, have at least one graphic or image for each section of your project.
3. A picture is worth a thousand words
As you build your page, try to identify areas where you can replace the text with images. Graphics and images are much more captivating than text and will do more to keep your visitors engaged in your page and story. Even better, level up by creating animated GIFs to demonstrate product features. It’ll help people understand how to use your product faster, and moving images can keep visitors interested.
In short, a great first impression is expected.
A beautiful page makes your visitors care about your project because they know that you care enough to put time into the aesthetics.
